The sole purpose of Friends of Glasgow University Union is to build a fund of capital in order to support the Union whenever and wherever required. We have created five specific funds for donations to be earmarked against and as they build we will invite the Union to make bids for funding. In the meantime balances will be managed by the FoGUU Management Committee to ensure the best possible return.
Your donation is important, but equally as important is the Gift Aid we can claim, which amounts to 25% of your donation. However, if you’re a higher rate tax payer you can also claim tax relief on 25% of the donated amount. Result!
To ease the administrative burden we have partnered with JustGiving to collect donations and make applications for Gift Aid refunds on our behalf. JustGiving is a well known and trusted brand, with a reputation for ease of use of their pages and their speed of payment to charities. Around 5% of your gross donation (including Gift Aid) will be retained by JustGiving and we believe that this is value for money.

to set up a direct debit for £20 per month, or more if you feel inclined. Your donation, together with the Gift Aid we can claim, will help ensure a future for the institution that was so much a part of our journey through university.
